High School Rugby began in Western Manitobba in 1999 when Barry Dowset got a team together in Minnedosa. After some ups and downs, a fully organized league with four boys and four girls teams coming from Minnedosa, Souris and Brandon came about in 2003. Dauphin Boys entered the league in 2005. Dauphin Girls and Swan Valley joined up in 2008 with both boys and girls teams and in 2011, Birtle added another girls team to the Westman Rugby mix.
